About the Program

This one-week LSE Preparatory English language course is a pre-Summer School booster to prepare you for your academic LSE course in the following weeks. You join a virtual classroom organized by LSE language teachers and guided by the in-depth knowledge of subject specialists so you can make the most out of your Summer School experience.

Student Counselor SAFFY
Your Student Counselor is your study abroad ambassador and supporter. They join your application journey when you’ve confirmed you’re interested in studying abroad. At this point, they guide you through each stage of the application, notify you of the documents you need, let you know when your admission results are in, and walk you through the next steps, including class enrollment and organizing pre-arrival tests.

Courses

Under the tutelage of LSE teachers and industry experts, you login for 20 hours of targeted English language learning to prepare you for your Summer School courses. The overarching course aim is to improve your listening, discussion, reading, and writing and ensure you can benefit from your subject-based Summer School course. The emphasis in each class is on notetaking, academic style, and presentation practice. At the end of your intensive week, you can choose to be assessed with an essay or group presentation.

Application Requirements

When applying to study abroad, you must meet the entry requirements set by the host university - and SAF is here to set you up for success.

The requirements outlined in this section include the language proficiency scores you may need to demonstrate your language skills, a guide to the GPA range and other academic prerequisites required by your host university, and a list of documentation and other application materials you will need to finalize your application. You may need to supply additional information throughout the process, and you will be alerted through your emails and SAF Student Portal if this is the case for you.

Language Test Score Requirements

To prove your language proficiency, you will need to provide one of the following:

CET-4: 470 is admissible if you attendsa one-week LSE Preparatory English course immediately prior to taking the chosen Summer School course.
