About the University

University of Mississippi

In addition to stellar academics, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) sports are integral to life here, having one of America’s most active and exciting football cultures—campus is never as busy as it is on game day. There is little as thrilling as attending a game and tailgating. It is a uniquely American experience.

The small town of Oxford is the Cultural Mecca of the South and has been home to many authors, including literary legend William Faulkner and bestseller John Grisham. At the annual Oxford Conference for the Book, Ole Miss brings together authors, educators, and book lovers, and throughout the year, it hosts writers workshops and multiple cultural festivals.

Ole Miss is also famous for its magnificent 2,000-acre campus of expansive lawns, impressive Southern architecture, and beautiful wooded trails to retreat to after lectures.
