From China University of Mining & Technology, SAF Summer Correspondent Han Li is chronicling his experience at University of California, Berkeley.
In one of my classes at the Haas Business School, I thought it was a relatively easy course, but to my surprise, the difficulty was much more than I thought. Many students rush to write notes written by the teacher on the chalk board.. You need to definitely need to concentrate in class.
The coursework and interaction here are very different from those in China; it is still a bit novel and somewhat difficult to adapt. A large part of the assignment and discussion of the assignments was made on the network system. The teacher's office time can play a large role for students to receive help. You can discuss many academic and professional development issues with the teacher.
I also had to learn to cook some food to adapt to the rhythm here. Coming to Berkeley is always in the process of learning and progressing.
