China University of Mining and Technology is the  best mining university in China, with a worldwide reputation for coal-mining technology and research. As a national key university, it is under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education of China but has historically nutured its research capability. CUMT is a leading multi-disciplinary polytechnic university with mining features and is a Project 211 and Project 985 platform (for mining) university of China. It is a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class Discipline University, with Double First Class status in certain disciplines.

China University of Petroleum (Beijing) is a "Double First-Class" university directly under the Ministry of Education. It was founded in 1953, covers an area of more than 700 mu, and has about 16,000 students and more than 1,700 faculty and staff. As a university under the "211 Project" and the "Double First-Class" construction, its petroleum and natural gas engineering discipline was rated A+ (the best in the country), and its chemical engineering and technology, as well as geological resources and geological engineering, are strong.
