In this full-immersion program, classes are offered by Cursos Internacionales of Universidad de Salamanca, one of the preeminent centers in the teaching of Spanish in the world. Conversation classes are taught by IES Abroad Salamanca faculty.
On the Iberian Peninsula, Spain’s IES Abroad modern Salamanca Center is in a stunning sandstone UNESCO World Heritage City that is over two thousand years old. Universidad de Salamanca (USAL) currently enrolls approximately 30,000 students annually, 7,000 of which are international students.
USAL is five minutes away from Salamanca’s historic Plaza Mayor and the IES Abroad Center and has numerous departments and university schools spread out among the Salamanca campus.
Courses are taught in Spanish.
If you are at the beginning Spanish level, you enroll in a required vocabulary course as your elective. All other students choose a thematic elective. Past electives have included:

Even though your adventure starts in Salamanca, our field trips take you beyond the city to discover the culture and traditions of your host country. All trips are included in the program fee unless otherwise noted with ($).

Visit Porto and the beach town of Aveiro, known as the Portuguese Venice. The visit includes a tour guide to Porto’s main sites, a cruise on the Douro River and a wine tasting tour in a famous winery. The fieldtrip also includes an afternoon by the ocean in Aveiro.
