In Westwood Village, one of LA’s safest and most welcoming neighborhoods, UCLA is renowned for its top-ranked programs and vibrant cultural experiences. Core to the university’s drive to empower students to live better lives by continuing their education is the UCLA Extension program. It offers over 50,000 university-level credit-bearing courses, many of which focus on business and entertainment to its 20,000 students every year.
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of project management with real-world practice, so you can develop practical skills to manage projects from initiation through completion and gain familiarity with tools and techniques used in the field.
Learning: Taught by experienced industry professionals, the 30-hour curriculum covers stakeholder engagement, process integration, and standardized frameworks across the project lifecycle. Instruction draws on real-world examples and current industry methodologies, including Agile practices and the evolving impact of AI.
Classroom: 30 in-person instructional hours cover material that works toward the 35 hours of project management education required for PMP® certification.
Guest lecture: A working professional who uses project management and data science in their role delivers a guest lecture that opens your eyes to the practical applications of project management.

Each study tour has slightly different language requirements, based on the complexity of the program content.
When studying abroad, you will want to consider the time of year and how long you are away. Most programs follow the host university's academic calendar.
The dates shown below are general estimates, and as you get closer to the start of the term, you will get more detailed information from SAF. If you have any questions, your Student Counsellor and Program Specialist are always here to support you and point you to the correct information.
Study tours are intense periods of exploration. They usually last just a few weeks—shorter than the normal study abroad experience—and sometimes travel to multiple destinations.
Choose either a double-occupancy hotel room a short walk from UCLA, or a 4-bed single-gender hostel room in Santa Monica, 2 blocks from the beach.
Both have 24/7 reception, free Wi-Fi, a guest kitchen, and daily breakfast (continental at the hotel, boxed at the hostel) as well as bed linens, towels, and nearby public transport. If you choose to live near the beach, use your pre-loaded transit pass for the 45-minute commute to UCLA campus.
