Your Student Counselor is your study abroad ambassador and supporter. They join your application journey when you’ve confirmed you’re interested in studying abroad. At this point, they guide you through each stage of the application, notify you of the documents you need, let you know when your admission results are in, and walk you through the next steps, including class enrollment and organizing pre-arrival tests.

Academics

With IES Abroad Staff in support, you hear stories and case studies from local academics, professionals, and entrepreneurs to get a practitioners’ view of how business, trade, and workplace culture function in Aotearoa New Zealand. 

The learning is hands-on: Seminars pair with site visits and move you towards delivering a capstone project to pitch a business idea to appeal to the Aotearoa New Zealand market.

Courses

Taught and accompanied by experienced industry professionals, this study tour gives you a solid understanding of the structure and characteristics of New Zealand’s economy and major industries and how they interact with East Asia. You develop intercultural awareness while you also reflect on your ow personal development and career aspirations—and consider how Aotearoa New Zealand might fit into your future.

Classroom

You have direct contact with structured learning in 17.5 hours of seminars accompanied by 7.5 hours of co-curricular activities that take you into Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s landscapes. 

During the study tour, you work as part of a group to develop a business concept pitch that shows your awareness of the Aotearoa New Zealand market and what would work culturally and in business.

Site Visits

To enhance your understanding of the Aotearoa New Zealand economy, business culture, innovation sector, and educational opportunities, IES Abroad arranges enlightening site visits, which may include:

  • Aotearoa New Zealand enterprise representing a key industry
  • East Asia-invested or East Asia-operated company in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship hub
  • Government or trade promotion organization
  • Major university in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland

When applying to study abroad, you must meet the entry requirements of the program—and SAF is here to set you up for success.

The requirements outlined in this section include the language proficiency scores you may need to demonstrate your language skills, a guide to the GPA range and other academic prerequisites required by the program, and a list of documentation and other application materials you will need to finalize your application. You will need to supply additional information throughout the process, and our helpful team will alert you via email or your MyIESAbroad Student Portal whenever this is necessary.

Housing Information

Hotel

You'll stay in shared accommodation in a city-center hotel, near restaurants and cafes where you can sit together with your study group friends to discuss the day’s learnings. 

You have WiFi, linens, and towels, so you just need to show up and dive into your learning experience in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Welcome Dinner and lunch provided during cultural activity.
