With immense pleasure, everyone at the Study Abroad Foundation (SAF) would like to congratulate an impressive collection of students from both China and Korea, each of whom has been awarded the exclusive UC Berkeley Extension SAF Merit and Need-Based Scholarship.

From China, Dizhe Xia, Yequan Bie, Zhixin Zhang, and Shiyueer Ma join South Korean student Jong Won Hong in receiving the highly sought-after scholarship.

The $2,000 awards scholarships, available only to SAF students, will facilitate and enhance each student’s participation in the spring 2022 semester of the Berkeley Global Access Program (BGA). This program at University of California, Berkeley, one of the world’s finest universities, takes visiting students on an educational journey like no other.

Taught by subject-leading faculty alongside Berkeley students in multidisciplinary credit-bearing courses that count to their own undergraduate or graduate degrees, each of the scholarship students look forward to a once in a lifetime experience.

Adding to that world-class learning in innovative courses, the Berkeley Global Access Program immerses each visiting student in a vibrant multicultural environment ripe for refining their English language skills.

The winners of this award really do have a very promising future ahead of them. For over twenty years, SAF, part of IES Abroad, has facilitated life-changing study-abroad experiences for Asian students traveling across the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Europe. Each individual’s adventure broadens their horizons, deepens international relations, and accelerates cultural understanding, ultimately shaping new generations.

Most SAF Scholars find themselves on an impressive career trajectory, considerably influenced by the time they spend studying, living, and adventuring abroad. So we are thrilled at SAF to see another generation of future alumni take another step on their academic and life journeys, supported by their scholarships.
