See Aussie Animals at These NSW Wildlife Parks

Koala

Australia, often called "the land down under," is a vast and captivating continent and nation. Students worldwide choose to study abroad at the University of New South Wales to immerse themselves in a different culture. Spend a day enjoying the sun and learning about some of the most fascinating creatures from the southern hemisphere at one of the wildlife parks in New South Wales.

Zoo Taronga

Taronga Zoo Sydney, one of Australia's most famous animal parks, is situated in Mosman and attracts many tourists. Its stunning views of the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, the city skyline, the variety of animal species it houses, and the natural experiences it offers make it an unforgettable destination.

This 28-hectare (69-acre) zoo has welcomed visitors for almost a century and is home to over 4,000 creatures, including platypus, capybara, gorillas, kangaroos, wallabies, and many more species. Eight zoo-geographic areas make up the zoo. At Taronga Zoo, you may enjoy many activities, including encounters with koalas, a tiger trek, an elephant trail, a serpentarium, and the chance to learn about well-known and obscure Australian animals. The attraction is large enough to fill a whole day but not so vast that you won't be able to view most of its creatures on a single outing. There is always a large audience for the zoo's daily bird and seal displays.

Australian Reptile Park

Reptiles of Australia's Central Coast, in the town of Somersby, lies the Australian Reptile Park. Located 71 kilometers north of Sydney, this park features the country's most extensive collections of reptiles, with nearly 50 species.

The attractions at the park include interactive displays, live entertainment, and opportunities to meet various animals. In the Lost World of Reptiles, guests can watch crocodile exhibitions, snake milking, and other daily demonstrations and view Komodo dragons and Tasmanian devils. You may even have opportunities to pole-feed Elvis, the park's famous saltwater crocodile, and feed kangaroos and wallabies at the Australian Reptile Park. The park also offers food for kangaroos and wallabies at several locations.

Featherdale Wildlife Park

Quokka

Doonside, Sydney, Australia, is home to the zoo Featherdale Wildlife Park. The park has one of the world's biggest collections of Australian wildlife, with more than 260 species.

Visitors may feed farmyard friends and pet koalas, stroll through the Lorikeet Aviary, pet roos and wallabies in the park's walk-through habitats, and enjoy various other engaging activities with creatures native to Australia. The quokka, sometimes called "the happiest animal in the world," is also available for presentations and unique encounters. Featherdale is big enough to fill an afternoon, so plan to spend at least two hours there.

Symbio Wildlife Park

Symbio is a unique wildlife attraction that covers 20 acres of beautifully designed gardens and animal habitats, housing over 500 creatures from around the world. Nature and animal enthusiasts will find plenty to do within the park. Guests can pet kangaroos and wallabies, stroke koalas, and interact with meerkats, red pandas, and little penguins. The property features a café, picnic areas, an adventure playground, and a splash park. In addition to engaging and informative talks and demonstrations, visitors have the opportunity to feed the animals, take guided tours, and enjoy close interactions with the wildlife.

They feature diverse creatures, including well-known Australian species such as dingos, wombats, koalas, and kangaroos, along with exotic animals like red pandas, cheetahs, monkeys, ring-tailed lemurs, and meerkats.
