The value of studying abroad extends far beyond arrival and departure dates.
SAF Korea explored that idea on February 12 during a networking event at its Seoul office, where current Global Ambassadors met with alumni to reflect on how their time abroad has influenced their academic and professional paths.
Two alumni from the 2022 Global Ambassador cohort attended the session to share their experiences since completing their study abroad programs. Now working at major multinational companies, they spoke about their career journeys, offered useful insights into recruitment processes, and shared practical advice on building a professional presence on LinkedIn.
Their stories provided a much-needed perspective for the eight Global Ambassadors from the 2025 cohort who attended the event, many of whom are already beginning to think about how their own international experiences might shape their future careers.
To encourage conversation and connection, participants took part in an interactive activity, pairing up to interview one another before introducing their partner to the group. The exercise was an opportunity to highlight the ambassadors’ study abroad experiences and Global Ambassador activities, while also helping participants strengthen their communication and networking skills. At the end of the session, attendees voted for the best introduction, with the winner receiving a Starbucks gift card.
Throughout the event, ambassadors exchanged stories from their time abroad, shared contact information, and built new connections within the SAF community.
Events like this are an important reminder that the study abroad journey doesn’t end when the program does. The friendships, ideas, and global connections formed along the way often continue to add value, shaping students’ paths long after they return home.
For students considering their own journey abroad, SAF offers opportunities to connect with a global community and gain experiences that continue to shape their paths long after the program ends. Connect with an SAF advisor today.
