SAF, under its parent organization IES Global, has announced the launch of the IES Abroad Global Student Grant (GSG), an exciting new initiative that expands access to international education for students from universities outside the United States.

The Global Student Grant reflects SAF and IES Global’s long-standing commitment to making global learning more accessible, fostering the next generation of global citizens.

This commitment echoes the long-standing vision of IES Global President & CEO Dr. Gregory D. Hess:

“Study abroad changes lives, and changed lives change the world.”

What the Global Student Grant offers

The GSG provides direct financial support to students who enroll in eligible IES Abroad study abroad or internship programs:

  • US$3,000 for students in a semester-long program
  • US$1,000 for students in a summer or internship program

By reducing some of the financial barriers, the GSG hopes to encourage more students to explore life-changing international experiences.

Eligibility and application of the Global Student Grant

The grant is available to students from SAF member universities who enroll in qualifying IES Abroad programs of six weeks or longer. It applies to the first term only for any multi-term enrollment.

The GSG applies to a wide range of IES Abroad academic and internship programs across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Examples include:

To make this grant as accessible as possible, no separate application is required. The GSG is automatically applied to eligible students’ invoices as a credit toward the comprehensive program fee. This streamlined process allows students to focus on preparing for their study abroad in other ways, rather than worrying about another application process.

Why SAF and IES Global created the GSG

SAF and IES Global are committed to the belief that global student mobility is essential for creating a more connected and understanding world. As not-for-profit organizations, both reinvest revenue into student programs, ensuring that quality and access remain at the forefront of their mission.

The new grant reflects this ongoing dedication to removing financial barriers and championing the next generation of global leaders.
