Surrounded by the city’s world-famous canals, IES Abroad Center Amsterdam is in a beautifully light building, fitting in naturally with its UNESCO World Heritage Listed neighbors. After your classes and lectures at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), you can hop on a bike or tram to get academic support from the center’s expert staff or join other IES Abroad Scholars on field trips and weekends away that immerse you in the Dutch experience.

IES Abroad Amsterdam Staff
Flor Macías Delgado
An IES Abroad study experience opens your eyes to a whole new world and broadens your perspective. IES Amsterdam Alum talk you through their stay highlights, field trips, and travel adventures in the Netherlands. They celebrate the care and attention they received from the expert center staff during their orientation and as they settled into life in what the locals call Mokum. And, like the locals, they love a bike, so they can explore the markets, squares, and canals of this dynamic city.
