University of Redlands
Personal attention from an outstanding teaching faculty on a sunny southern California campus cast against a beautiful backdrop of mountains – yes, you’ve found the perfect place at the University of Redlands. With a total enrollment of about 1,800, the University of Redlands is able to offer you a liberal arts education, small class sizes and the beauty of the San Bernardino Mountains.
As members of a dynamic living-learning community, students are encouraged to explore their shared interests, to respect and learn from each others’ differences, and most importantly, to discover the underlying commonalities of the human experience.
North, south, east or west – you’ll find every type of environment for recreation that you can imagine. Head north to Bear Lake for fishing, sailing or water skiing and to Snow Summit, Bear Mountain and Snow Valley for skiing and snowboarding. Hikers and mountain bikers will want to travel east to visit the beautiful San Gorgono Wilderness and Pacific Crest Trail that run through mountains, forests and deserts. Due west is the Pacific Ocean and California’s beaches for sunning, swimming and surfing.
Housing
The University of Redlands is a residential campus with more than 95% of its students living on campus in small residential housing facilities. SAF students will reside in one of 12 residences—which range in size from 60 to 190 students. Hunsaker University Center houses three different dining options to suit all desires. The cost of the mandatory meal plan is not included in SAF program fees.
Courses
One unique feature of the University is the linking of a number of professional programs (e.g. music, communicative disorders, business, etc.) with the liberal arts. The English department offers creative writing, one of the few in the nation for undergraduate students, and literature. Redlands’ School of Music offers excellent music programs in performance, composition, education, musical studies and theatre.
