Pepperdine campus

Pepperdine University

Founded by George Pepperdine, a Christian businessman who made his fortune in the auto supply business, Pepperdine University is geared to students who are seeking a strong academic education in a positive, value-centered environment. At his dedicatory address in 1937, George Pepperdine first stated the University’s mission: “ …to help young men and women to prepare themselves for a life of usefulness in this competitive world, and to help them build a foundation of Christian character and faith which will survive the storms of life.” Pepperdine students follow through on their convictions by volunteering for a variety of programs organized by the Pepperdine Volunteer Center.

The buildings on the Pepperdine campus are drenched in a white, Mediterranean-style architecture with terra-cotta roofs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Fountains, hillside gardens and mountain trails add to the exquisite view. There are innumerable clubs and organizations in which to participate, such as the Asian Student Club, the Student Government Association, and The International Club.  The school has a student newspaper, a student-run television station, and the Pepperdine Xpress, an internet portal allowing students to chat, view headlines, and read announcements about activities both on and off campus. At Pepperdine the student population is diverse, both geographically and ethnically, with International students representing over 70 countries and accounting for 10 percent of Pepperdine’s total enrollment.

Housing

Located in the heart of Pepperdine’s Malibu campus, housing is within walking distance of university social, recreational, and academic centers.  The residential community overlooks the surrounding city, hills and ocean.  In addition, on-campus facilities also provide a variety of services which include maintenance, some housekeeping, on-site barbecue grills, beach volleyball courts, and dining options depending on your chosen living area. Shuttle services are also available to ensure easy student access to all campus locations.

Courses

Seaver College, Pepperdine’s liberal arts undergraduate college, offers 50 areas of study with outstanding programs in pre-med, international studies, business, and sports medicine (one of the few in the nation for undergraduates). Business and communication majors remain the most popular for international students, with internships in the arts and entertainment readily available due to the proximity of the campus to Los Angeles and Hollywood, only 30 miles away.
