Middlebury, Vermont
Middlebury is a beautiful quintessential New England village with its white steepled church overlooking Main Street. The town was founded in 1761 with most people settling in the town after the Revolutionary War.
Middlebury’s town center is naturally beautiful with Otter Creek cascading in a sheer drop waterfall. There is a nice footbridge just below the falls that offers a great view. "Marble Works" is now a thriving restored shopping and business district reminiscent of boom times when local marble quarries were active, activity which eventually fell victim to more modern quarrying techniques.
Lake Dunmore, about 20 minutes away, offers opportunities for swimming and boating. Killington Ski Area, the largest ski area in Vermont is just an hour away and stretches 11 miles over 7 peaks and contains more that 200 runs. Montreal is less than three hours from Middlebury; Boston is a four-hour drive; and New York City is five hours away.
