Middlebury College
Highly motivated students who want to excel in academics and become leaders in their own right will do well at Middlebury College. Located in a small, New England town near the Green Mountains, Middlebury College has an enrollment of only 2,265 students and an excellent faculty dedicated to serving the educational needs of the students.
Middlebury College students are known for their intelligence and talents due to the school’s demanding academic environment. “The school is very academically challenging,” said an international student. If outdoor winter sports are your passion, then you will love Middlebury. The college has its own ski center, the Snow Bowl; Bread Loaf cross country ski area; a new ice hockey arena; snowboarding, snowshoeing and a Winter Carnival that includes sporting events, ice skating, parties and even a snowman-building contest. Besides winter sports, outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy kayaking, canoeing, hiking and rock climbing. Facilities at the school include a private golf course, football stadium and eight-lane track. Cycling, martial arts, rugby, squash, volleyball, water polo, equestrian sports and ultimate Frisbee are the primary intercollegiate sports
Housing
The residence halls are grouped into "living-learning communities," called Commons. The Commons combine the academic, social, and residential components of college and foster close and abiding relationships, not only among the student residents, but also among the faculty and staff who are part of their Commons.
Courses
Language study, International Studies, English, Biology and Environmental Studies are some of the strongest programs at Middlebury. The college is also known for its Bread Loaf School of English and its summer foreign-language programs with Chinese, Japanese and Russian being some of its strongest.
