Miami University CampusMiami University

If you are looking for a university that has outstanding academics and prides itself on student-faculty interaction, then Miami University may be your top choice. Add to that combination the ability to choose from more than 100 majors, have affordable tuition and participate in a wide variety of athletics and student activities and you may not want to look any further.

Academics are number one at Miami, but the school also has a thriving social scene with some 300 student organizations ranging from choral clubs to marching band. Writers hone their skills at the Miami Student, the oldest student newspaper in the country. Recreation also plays a big role in the life of Miami’s students. The Recreational Sports Center has tennis and squash courts, aerobic rooms, pools, jogging track, inline skating court and climbing wall that are open to all students. You can also join one of the more than 40 club sports including badminton, fencing and water polo.

Housing

A variety of residence hall options are available including those with co-ed floors or halls for all-male or all-female students. Some residence halls are for students with a shared interest such as the International Living Learning Community where many of the students are interested in studying abroad, are pursuing international studies or studying foreign languages. Other residence halls are targeted to students who share a common interest in health, diversity, languages or leadership.

Courses

Miami is considered one of the leading public universities for teaching undergraduates, small class sizes and successful graduation rates. The focus at Miami is on faculty teaching students – giving undergraduates one-on-one research opportunities with individual faculty members. Zoology, chemistry and accounting departments offer some of the most challenging courses at Miami, but architecture, business and international studies are also highly regarded.
