South Hadley, Massachusetts
South Hadley is a small town with a population of only 18,000 residents in western Massachusetts. This small, friendly, residential town is located in the heart of the Pioneer Valley along the banks of the Connecticut River. This college town has a diverse offering of cultural and recreational activities for residents and visitors.
Pioneer Valley residents entertain their senses with the arts, both visual and performing. Students will find numerous art galleries, countless theaters and performances. Two prominent children’s book authors have their residences in the valley Dr. Seuss and Eric Carle. Students may visit the visual Dr. Seuss Memorial in Springfield, and the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art.
Although there is plenty to do on campus at Mount Holyoke, many students travel 40 minutes to the college town of Amherst where approximately 25,000 students from University of Massachusetts and Amherst College gather for collegiate sporting events, parties and the club scene. Boston is a quick two hour drive from South Hadley and New York City is less than three hours away.
