Gonzaga Campus SouthGonzaga University

Gonzaga University has a history of more than 100 years of Jesuit tradition of educational excellence. Founded in 1887 as a frontier boarding school, the Catholic university was named for Saint Aloysius Gonzaga and set about grooming students to become leaders who seek truth and justice while having concern for others. Gonzaga was ranked fourth of all western universities in 2001 by U.S. News & World Report’s annual report of America’s best colleges.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you will find it all in eastern Washington. Spokane River Centennial Trail has a 40 mile trail for jogging and biking, or you can boat nearby at Riverside Park. Mount Spokane, 30 miles northeast, offers camping, mountain biking, skiing and snowmobiling. Several national forests are within a two-hour drive including Kaniksu and Colville with snowboarding, snowshoeing, canoeing and alpine lakes accessible only by hiking. Wildlife viewing abounds with whitetail deer, black bears, caribou and eagles. Coeur d’Alene Lake in neighboring Idaho has 25 acres of water where you can fish for chinook salmon or parasail.

Housing

Students may opt to live in a variety of residence halls or off-campus university apartments. Some halls are single-gender, and others offer co-ed housing or Positive Choice living that is both alcohol and tobacco-free.

Courses

Gonzaga's liberal arts tradition lies in its core curriculum, which integrates philosophy, theology, mathematics, literature, natural and social sciences, and extensive writing in students' major disciplines. Business and engineering are two of the strongest programs at Gonzaga. The School of Business was started in 1921 and is AACSB accredited.  The Center for Engineering Design gives students the opportunity to work on real design projects with professional engineers and local firms that provide resources and funds.
