The city of Boulder is a welcoming home. With a population of just 100,000, Boulder enjoys the charm and safety of an American small town while being able to offer many of the amenities found in larger cities. This city offers endless entertainment options including a wide array of restaurants, a vibrant retail and commercial sector, museums and art galleries. Ethnic restaurants will whet your palate for Thai food at Sawaddee or Vietnamese and Chinese food at Kim’s to Go. There are also sushi bars, coffeehouses, clubs and shops on Pearl Street.
Winter sports buffs will find Boulder to be a paradise for snowboarding, skiing and snowshoeing. Slopes are nearby at Eldora, Silver Creek and Winter Park. A little farther afield are Estes Park, Steamboat Springs, Aspen and Vail. Snowmobile trails at Grand Lake and ice climbing in Boulder Canyon and Rocky Mountain National Park will keep you busy on weekends. Rock climbing, fly fishing, bicycling, hiking, golf, inline skating, snowboarding, tennis, kayaking and white-water rafting will also tempt your outdoor appetite.
If you want to visit a larger city, Denver is only 45 minutes away (a free bus ride for students) with museums such as the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Enjoy an underwater dining adventure at Colorado’s Ocean Journey Aquarium. Also popular in Denver are professional sports teams and performing arts.
