University of Glasgow
If you're looking for an academically strong university in an exciting city, the University of Glasgow might be right for you. Set in the middle of beautiful Victorian Glasgow, this university of 20,000 offers an active student life on a campus near the city center. Getting around both the campus and the city is much easier than at most urban universities.
With two student unions and an athletic club, Glasgow students are never short of things to do on campus. Check out the discos, coffee bars, restaurants, and bars, as well as the concerts and dances sponsored by the student unions. Clubs and societies are popular on campus, and facilities are available for both intervarsity and intramural sports.
Glasgow, the fourth largest city in the UK, is a fantastic base to travel Scotland. It is located a short 45 minute train ride from Edinburgh; a slightly longer train trip allows you to visit golf’s oldest course, St. Andrews and is the gateway to the dramatic landscape of the Scottish Highlands.
Housing
Glasgow offers numerous housing options to its students. You might live in a residence hall or student flats a short distance from the campus. From one fully catered residence to mainly self-catered, single rooms or shared rooms there is much to choose from at Glasgow. SFA fees do not include the price of food at fully catered residences.

Courses
Glasgow is particularly strong in the performing arts and communications; the theatre, television, and film departments are some of the best in the U.K. Also consider the sociology department, which has an excellent reputation and other very popular departments such as English Literature, History, Celtic, School of Business & Management and Law. You can even combine your academic program with one of a few select classes from the famous Glasgow School of Art. The fine arts studio course gives you a chance to put basic art skills to use in a studio setting.
Early Start Program: Glasgow offers a special three-week presession program that begins in late August and allows participants to earn an extra three credit hours. Students choose to enroll in one of four courses: Scottish Studies, European Thought: The Birth of Post Modernity, Creative Responses to Short Literature, or the Environment in Scotland. The cost of this presession program is included in the SAF program fee.
