For Parents
The Study Abroad Foundation understands that parents play an important role in the education process and wherever possible we are committed to keeping you involved with our study abroad programs.
One of the ways that SAF strives to keep parents informed is through periodic newsletters and progress reports while their son or daughter is studying abroad. On our application for admission, we ask each student whether he or she would like these newsletters and progress reports sent to their parents. While most students are pleased that we are keeping their parents informed, in some countries such as the US, laws forbid us from sending information if the student has not agreed.
SAF understands that adjusting to life in a new country means excitement, challenge, and the unexpected. While no amount of preparation can guarantee a smooth transition, SAF provides a full range of support services. Adjustment begins when students are still at home and our offices overseas will provide complete information and assistance during this transition period. Students can expect to receive guidance with issues from travel arrangements, medical insurance, visa acquisition, and packing. SAF staff located in host countries will participate in our predeparture orientation providing comprehensive discussions on topics such as culture shock, safety abroad, and academic integration.
