University of Canterbury

For academic excellence in a beautiful South Island city, take a look at the University of Canterbury at Christchurch. This university of 13,000 has an international reputation for excellent teaching.

In addition to great academics, you'll find an active student body participating in more than 110 clubs and societies. Clubs and Societies are an integral part of student life at University. At the University of Canterbury there are a wide variety of clubs and societies that cater for heaps of different interests, including sports, culture, performance, academic, religious and social groups. Campus amenities include concerts and performances at the Ngaio Marsh and Court Theatres, sports facilities and a health center, pubs, and restaurants. If you want to head into the city, the Christchurch city center is just fifteen minutes away.

The stunning Canterbury landscape is impossible to ignore and easy to access from Christchurch. If you are seeking panoramas of ocean or mountains, sweeps of pastureland or massive amounts of sky, the Canterbury region is the place for you.

Housing

SAF students live in flats in a housing complex within walking distance of the campus. Housing is self-catered, but if you get tired of cooking for yourself, you'll find plenty of bars and cafeterias on campus and in nearby shopping centers. Because most students live on or near campus, the university has a lively social scene, with barbeques, dinners, and sports events held throughout the year.

Llam Village Flats have single study bedrooms and fully equipped kitchens. Halls of residence offer single rooms and a fully catered meal plan. The cost of the meal plan is in addition to the listed SAF fees. Both the flats and halls full recreational and support facilities.

Courses

Canterbury's excellent academic reputation really shines in the areas of fine arts, commerce, music, forestry, science, and engineering. The university also boasts outstanding speech therapy and language departments.
