Limerick


Located on the River Shannon, Limerick is the largest city of the west coast of Ireland.  It is a vibrant city for culture and entertainment; home to the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Irish World Music Centre, the Island Theatre Group, DAGHDHA Dance Company, and other professional artistic groups with numerous festivals, galleries, theatres, museums and libraries. Social interaction is at the heart of Limerick’s nightlife. This city is rich with an abundance of award-winning restaurants. By night many traditional pubs around Limerick ring to the sound of Irish music and dance. Clubs, pubs and nightclubs are plentiful in the city.

Limerick is often referred to as the "Home of Rugby" and the statistics show that this title is well earned. Other sports such as soccer, rowing and hurling are popular with the cities many residents for participation or as spectator sports. Greyhound racing and horse racing also are available in this sports enamored city.

Limerick is located in the Shannon region of Ireland which consists of the Counties Clare and Limerick. County Clare’s visual riches include the dramatic western Atlantic coastline with towering cliffs and golden beaches. Limerick County’s rolling hills, quiet beauty and charm include Adare the prettiest village in Ireland. Ireland is an easy country to travel in and from Limerick one has access to all rail and bus lines which can take you to such famed stops as the Blarney Castle.
