University of Limerick Crest

University of Limerick

For a truly integrated experience and the      chance to take unique courses, consider the University  of Limerick. With 11,500 students, Limerick is big enough to offer a range of courses but small enough to make you feel right at home. The university is known for its academic commitment to the sciences and business, but the arts form a large part of its extracurricular activities. SAF students may enroll in classes in any of UL's six colleges including the schools of Education, Engineering, Humanities, Informatics and Electronics, Science and The Kemmy School of Business.

The campus sits on the banks of the River Shannon and offers beautifully landscaped green space. Student social life revolves around The Stables, a complex with pubs, restaurants, a bank, and stores. Consider joining one of the Union-sponsored clubs and societies or the athletic clubs.Shannon Airport is an excellent gateway for those students who wish to spend their extracurricular free time exploring Europe.

Many 12th century churches can be found throughout Limerick and The Hunt Museum houses a fine collection of Irish and European religious art. Curraghmore Forest Park has 600 acres of exceptional beauty. Limerick’s location on the west coast makes it ideal for such pursuits as windsurfing, fishing and sea kayaking.

Housing

Housing is on campus in one of Limericks's five student villages that offers a central clubhouse for recreation and a reception office. Accommodation is self-catered and includes kitchens for student use. All rooms have individual bedrooms with both ensuite or shared bathrooms. Campus life services is an organization dedicated to making a successful living environment for all students.

Courses

Limerick is especially strong in the sciences and in business and offers some of the best computer facilities in Ireland. For a more unusual program, consider the multi-disciplinary Irish studies program, the European studies programs, or the equine studies program. The university allows study abroad students to enroll in multiple departments.
