University of East Anglia
Students who crave a creative environment and good academics in a richly cultured city, should take a look at the University of East Anglia. The academics are outstanding at this university of 13,000, and the university is particularly welcoming to study abroad students.
UEA offers plenty to do on campus. The Student Union brings in live entertainment, including nationally known bands and rising newcomers. The campus is self-contained and boasts a fitness center, four banks, a post office, art museum, bookshop, a mini-supermarket, and other amenities. If you want to go into the town, the campus is just three miles from downtown Norwich.
Housing
SAF students are guaranteed a single study-bedroom on campus. Residence halls are centrally-heated, well-equipped, and fully furnished. Shared kitchen and bathroom facilities are located on each floor. There is no meal plan so students either cook their own meals or go to one of the campus restaurants or snack bars which offer a variety of food at a reasonable cost.
Courses
UEA’s unique interdisciplinary approach to academic subjects encourages students to study related topics within a broader thematic context. The University is committed to small-group seminar teaching which is supplemented by formal lectures series. UEA is a great university for students studying creative pursuits, including music and art history. English Literature, American Studies and the Environmental Studies departments are well known throughout the U.K., and the Creative Writing program is one of the best in Europe
