Queen Mary University London
Queen Mary, University of London combines great academics, the convenience of a centralized campus, and the excitement of a world-class city. Queen Mary, one of the larger colleges of the University of London, is an urban campus located in the East End, one of the oldest parts of London and the traditional base of working-class Londoners, the Cockneys. Today the area is culturally and socially mixed and is home to financial workers from the City, working-class families and immigrant groups from around the world. Green spaces, markets, shops, restaurants, traditional pubs and stylish bars are all located near the campus.
Queen Mary’s recently refurbished student’s union building is the social hub of the campus and houses a shop, café, athletic facilities, saunas and the popular ‘Draper’s Arms’ pub.
Housing
All Study Abroad students are offered accommodation on campus in modern, self-catered flats. All rooms are single and most have ensuite (private) bathroom facilities. Typically rooms are grouped in flats for between 4 and 9 students with shared kitchen facilities. All rooms are carpeted, equipped with a single bed, wash basin, wardrobe, bookshelves, desk, chair, desklamp and storage space. Kitchens are fully equipped with refrigerators/freezers, cookers, storage cupboards, food preparation and dining areas. The College’s new Student Village located on the Mile End Campus provides self-catering accommodation for 1200 students, staff and academic visitors in six different styles of building designed to create a village community feel. A shop, laundrette, large common room, café bar, central reception and a security office (staffed 24 hours per day) are all on-site.
