University of Bristol
For a welcoming, integrated, and challenging academic environment, the University of Bristol is hard to beat. This university of 14,500 students has a formidable academic reputation and competitive nature and was recently declared by the London Sunday Times as “probably the most difficult to get into after Oxford and Cambridge”.
Bristol University is truly interwoven into this port city and students will discover their classrooms are located right in the middle of trendy shops and cafes. The city is also a wonderful point for travel with trains to London departing every 30 minutes, the ancient city of Bath just 13 miles away as well as easy access to the coastal resorts of the West Country and the pastoral Cotswolds.
Housing
Bristol guarantees housing to SAF students. Housing is in student flats or residence halls located within three miles of the university and all accommodation is integrated with other Bristol University students. The cost of commuting is not included in the SAF program fee.
Courses
Study options at Bristol are vast. Unlike many English universities, Bristol allows students to study in several different departments and to create a varied class schedule. Consider the particularly renowned drama department or one of the university's outstanding special concentrations for visiting students: biogeographical studies, premedical studies, British studies, engineering studies, medieval studies, and women's/gender studies.
